COVID-19: Advice for Freelancers & Small Business Owners
As a franchisor, we are fortunate to work with an ever-growing network of small business owners, as well as hundreds of freelance yoga teachers around the world. We’re well aware that the COVID-19 outbreak has made things particularly challenging, and are doing everything we can to help our network of studio owners and teachers navigate this difficult time.
As a start, we’re doing our best to keep on top of government policy and initiatives to ensure that our studio owners and teachers can get the maximum support needed. We’ve put together two documents summarising initiatives for small business owners and the self-employed, which we hope can offer some clarity in this challenging time.
Given that so many people are facing similar challenges at the moment, we’ve decided to share these documents in the hope that we can help as many people as possible. We’ll keep this page as updated as possible with the latest information from the government.
Help for the self-employed (26th March) – A summary of the government support for the self-employed, including examples on how to calculate your benefits.
Government policy update (23rd March) – A summary and explanation of policies and initiatives for small businesses, including business cut rates, leisure and retail grants, VAT and self-assessment delay, and business interruption loans.
Please bear in mind, this is simply our summary, to the best of our knowledge, of the public information available. We’re not qualified to give specific legal or financial advice, so we’re just doing our best to help understand tricky subjects at a very challenging time. We’ve also only selected and summarised the initiatives most relevant to our teachers and studio owners – so this list isn’t exhaustive and there are certainly other key areas of support on offer.
